About Me

Hello! My name is Anneke (it sort of sounds like hanukkah without the h). I’m a twenty-something who loves to create & design, whether it be through painting, sketching, writing, or capturing photos with my camera. I'm currently pursuing my teaching license in elementary education and look forward to day when I will have a classroom of my own. I live in the beautiful state of Colorado, where I spend my time working at a European market, reading lots of books, playing with paint, fashioning fictional worlds with the written word & seeking out inspiration from all that is around me.  

The Purpose Behind The Green Leaf Poet

For a long as I can remember, books have been a constant companion of mine. I was the child who was always reading. In the car. At the breakfast table. At school. At the store (yes, I would walk and read at the same time). As I grew older, I discovered I also enjoyed writing, beginning with poetry, and then later creating stories of my own. 

As a reader (and aspiring author) of middle grade fiction, this blog will mainly be a place where I post book reviews of what I'm currently reading. I may also post reviews of children's books, young adult literature, classics and other texts I am delving into. Occasionally, I will share art projects and other bits & pieces from my life. To give you a fair warning: I love to take pictures of skies and Colorado never disappoints.  

Going into education, I believe it is important to read as much as I can in the genres of children's and middle grade books, whether it be fiction or non-fiction. As a future teacher, I hope to someday get children excited about reading and to provide them with access to wonderful and inspiring literature. This blog is an outlet where I can share a variety of middle grade books, be they new or classics from when I was a child. I hope you enjoy.
